Tonight we popped along to the Opera House to see NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL A MUSICAL .

Billed as ‘2 best friends, one unforgettable reunion’ - this new musical comedy has plenty of drunken lols and a lot of talent on show.

It’s been 40 years of ‘NOW’ chart topping compilation albums. I’m sure at MANCHESTER THEATRICAL Towers we have a few of these tapes somewhere. The great thing about a compilation NOW Album for teenagers in particular is that it allowed you to spend a small amount of your pocket money and receive x40 chart topping songs without having to buy individual singles. If you were to pick a NOW album from your teenage years I’m sure it would act like a Time Machine and bring back all kinds of memories. This show does just that.

The show begins with x2 school girls who have been brought up in Birmingham in 1989 - Gemma (NIKITA JOHAL) & April (MAIA HAWKINS). One has dreams of becoming an actress in HOLLYWOOD & the other as a nurse. Older versions of the 2 leads played by tv comedy actress NINA WADIA & proving she can still belt out an 80’s ballad - X-FACTOR winner SAM BAILEY. Our 1st time seeing Nina & she was funny and heart warming. Sam we have seen alot over the years. Last year as Miss Hedge on the JAMIE UK Tour, Pride Events & in Fat Friends the musical at the Opera House a few years ago.

The show took me back in time and ironically at tonight’s interval I ran into a school friend I havnt seen since I left school in 1994! What are the chances??!!

It’s an 80’s Fever Dream of 20+ pop songs with a cherry on top in the form of pop sensation Sonia.

The sell out crowd tonight were beaming throughout & the MEGAMIX (as all good 80’s/90’s tapes have) did not dissapoint! Strictly’s CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD directs this live mix tape and also is responsible for its choreo. Was it ‘FAB-U-LOUS’ or a ‘DISARRRRRRSTER?!’ Overall
the whole vibe of this piece I would say is overwhelmingly fun. If your looking for a giggle with your mates of a certain age then this one is for you.
